Edit a home banner
Home banner epics produce the hero visual + headline for the homepage of a connected Shopify store. It's a different rhythm from social content β you're not publishing something new every day, but the banner you ship sits on your homepage for weeks and gets seen by every visitor. High leverage, worth getting right.
See Edit an Epic for the generic epic workflow.
When to use itβ
- Major campaign launching (Black Friday, product drop, seasonal push) and you want the homepage to match
- Evergreen banner looking stale
- New product line where the homepage is still showing the old hero
- Dashboard flags the Shopify theme banner as a content opportunity
What the epic producesβ
- A headline β the main line above the banner visual
- A sub-headline / supporting copy (optional)
- A call-to-action β button text + destination URL
- A banner visual β either AI-generated, picked from your Images library, or imported from Canva
- Secondary assets (optional) β mobile variant, carousel frames if your theme supports them
The briefβ
- Campaign the banner is tied to (optional β link to a Campaign Plan)
- Goal β awareness / promotion / conversion to a specific collection
- Focus β product, collection, event, or a broader brand moment
- Duration β how long you expect it to stay up (influences evergreen vs time-boxed copy)
Generation and iterationβ
Glowtify generates headline variants + visuals in parallel. Iterate via the task chat β ask for a shorter headline, a different CTA verb, a more urgent tone, a different visual style.
Preview shows the banner in context β with your theme's navbar above and the rest of the homepage below β so you can judge how it actually looks on the site.
Publishing to Shopifyβ
Click Publish and Glowtify updates your active theme's homepage banner via Shopify's theme API. The change is live immediately on your storefront.
Two important things:
- The change affects your active theme only. If you duplicate your theme before editing, publish to the copy first to test
- You can always revert in Shopify β Online Store β Themes β Edit code or using Shopify's theme version history
Schedulingβ
Home banners don't use classic soft/real scheduling because there's only one active banner at a time. But you can:
- Schedule the publish for a specific datetime β Glowtify holds the update and pushes it at the scheduled time
- Set an end date β after which the previous banner (or a fallback) is restored
Useful for: putting a Black Friday banner up at midnight, or running a 2-week promo banner automatically.
Tracking impactβ
- Homepage CTR to the banner's destination β via Google Analytics
- Revenue attributed to visits that clicked through β via Shopify + UTM parameters Glowtify adds automatically
- Time on homepage β a good banner often increases engagement before the click
