Publication errors
Publication errors happen. They're the #1 support topic we see, so this article covers the usual suspects and the fixes that work nine times out of ten.
Quick reminder: publication errors in Glowtify only apply to soft scheduling (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google Ads, Facebook Ads). If an email or blog article fails, the error lives on the destination platform (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, WordPress, etc.), not in Glowtify. See Smart Scheduling for why.
Spotting the errorβ
When a scheduled publication fails:
- The epic's status flips to Error
- An alert appears on your dashboard
- A notification is sent (in-app + email, and Slack if connected)
- For admins monitoring several stores, the Command Center aggregates errors across stores
Click into the epic to see the specific error message from the platform.
By platformβ
Meta (Facebook + Instagram)β
"Invalid access token" / "Session has expired" Your Meta token expired (they expire every ~60 days). Go to the Meta connector card β Reconnect. Scheduled content that hadn't been pushed yet retries automatically after reconnection.
"You do not have permission to publish" Your admin rights on the Facebook Page were changed. Check on Facebook Business Settings and re-authorize.
"Instagram account is not a Business account" Your Instagram got switched back to Personal. Convert to Professional in the Instagram app, then reconnect.
"Media upload failed" / "Format not supported" Your image or video doesn't match Meta's specs (aspect ratio, file size, duration). See Content channels for the specs.
"Content violates community standards" Meta's automated review flagged something. Common triggers: certain claims (medical, financial), specific words, images (sensitive content). Reword, edit the visual, and retry. Persistent rejections may indicate a page-level issue you'll need to resolve on Meta directly.
LinkedInβ
"Authentication failed" Your LinkedIn token expired or access was revoked. Reconnect.
"Organization access lost" Your admin rights on the LinkedIn Organization were changed. Verify on LinkedIn and re-authorize.
"Caption too long" LinkedIn enforces 3 000 characters. Shorten.
TikTokβ
"Session invalid" Refresh token expired. Reconnect TikTok.
"Video format rejected" Re-encode as MP4, H.264, 9:16 aspect ratio.
"Account not eligible for API posting" Your TikTok account isn't Business, or you haven't accepted the Content Posting API terms. Switch to Business in the TikTok app.
Google Adsβ
"Customer account not accessible" Access to the Google Ads account changed, or billing was paused. Check on Google Ads.
"Ad disapproved" Review the disapproval reason in Google Ads. Common ones: restricted categories, landing page issues, trademark.
"Budget exhausted" Increase the budget β in Glowtify or directly in Google Ads.
Facebook Adsβ
Similar to Meta posts β expired tokens, payment issues (your Meta ad account billing needs to be current), or disapproved creatives. Check Meta Ads Manager for the specific ad status.
Retriesβ
Glowtify retries failed publications automatically up to a configured limit (PUBLICATION_ATTEMPTS_LIMIT). After the limit, the epic stays in Error state waiting for you.
If you fix the root cause (reconnect, edit content), you can manually retry from the epic page.
Still stuck?β
If a publication keeps failing and none of the above helps:
- Check the platform's own status page (is the API down?)
- Try publishing the same content manually on the platform β if that also fails, the issue is on the platform side
- Reach out to Support with the error message + epic URL
