GEO monitoring
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization β making sure your brand shows up when consumers ask an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) a question in your category. GEO Monitoring is where you track exactly how each of those assistants talks about your brand.
GEO Monitoring is currently a beta feature. You'll find it under Analytics β GEO Monitoring in the left panel.
Why GEO matters nowβ
Traditional search rewards clicks. AI-driven search rewards mentions and sentiment. When an AI recommends you positively, that's a trusted moment at the point of decision. When it ignores you or mentions you negatively, you lose visibility to the competitors it does recommend.
Key conceptsβ
Three core pillars to master this page:
- Pillar AI Prompts β the specific questions you selected in your Business DNA to track. Example: "Which top-rated hair products help frizz in summer humidity?"
- Mention β your win. The AI's answer to a prompt includes your brand.
- Sentiment β the tone of the mention. Positive ("KΓ©rastase is the gold standard for humidity control"), Negative ("offers the lowest value for money"), or Neutral (listed without a lean).
The Overview tabβ
Three top-level stat cards summarize your health:
- Brand Visibility β how often AI platforms mention you across the prompts you track. Displayed as a ratio (e.g.,
1/1= mentioned in the one run,0/1= ignored). - Sentiment β aggregate positive / neutral / negative tone across mentions.
- Top Provider β the AI that mentions you most. Tells you where you're winning and where you need to catch up.
Per-engine viewβ
Tabs at the top let you switch between Global, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini:
- Global β average performance across all providers. Visibility as a ratio (e.g.,
1/3= mentioned in one engine of three). - Provider tabs β scoped to one AI. Visibility becomes a binary Mentioned / Not mentioned per prompt.
The monitoring tableβ
Lists every Pillar AI Prompt you tracked, with columns:
- Search prompt β the prompt text
- Visibility β per-engine or global ratio
- Sentiment β badge per prompt
- Answers β click View answers to open the raw text each AI produced. This is where the insight lives: why are you ranked the way you are, which competitors are being credited in your place.
Filteringβ
The filter box filters your Pillar AI Prompts. If a prompt you want to track isn't listed, add it in Business DNA β the monitoring table reflects your DNA selection.
Improving your GEO scoreβ
GEO rewards clear, factual, well-structured content that AI models can interpret confidently. Levers Glowtify helps with:
- Answer-first content in your blog posts β see Edit a blog post
- Optimized product and collection meta fields β see Edit a product SEO / GEO and Edit a collection SEO / GEO
- Clear positioning in your Business DNA β tone, topics, differentiators the AI can latch onto
- Consistent, fresh info across your site, social, and review platforms β AI models prioritize verified, up-to-date data
GEO vs SEO vs local searchβ
- SEO β traditional search ranking on Google / Bing (keywords, meta tags, backlinks)
- GEO β visibility in AI assistants' generated answers (what this page covers)
- Local search β Maps, directories, neighborhood queries (different set of signals, covered elsewhere)
SEO and GEO are complementary, not exchangeable. Both are set up from your Business DNA β SEO / GEO tab.
Refresh cadenceβ
Glowtify re-queries each AI assistant on a rolling schedule. The "Updated N days ago" label shows how fresh the data is. Don't over-react to a single data point β watch the trend over weeks.
